Service Rifle Shoot - September 2007

Proposed Two Gun Service Match

Registration begins at 8:30AM
Cost: $10.00 per shooter.
Outline: This match consists of six courses of fire utilizing Service grade rifles and pistols. There will be three courses of fire for each discipline.
Rifle: The Service rifle portion will consist of three different stages. The shooter will have a time limit determined at a later date to fire 20 rounds at a standard B-27 NRA silhouette targets. The first stage which will be fired in the off hand position will be at fifty yards. The second stage will be shot in the either the kneeling or sitting position at 100 yards. The third stage will be fired in the prone position, while shooting at a target at 200 yards.
Pistol: The Service pistol portion will also consist of three different stages. The first stage will consist of shooting six steel plates twice at 20 yards. The shooter will shoot no more than eight rounds of ammunition at the six plates. Plates will be worth 10 points for each one knocked down. The second portion of the pistol stage will be shooting at a B-27 target at a distance of 20 yards. There will be a time limit to be determined at a later date. The shooter will fire a total of sixteen rounds. The third round will consist of shooting a B-27 target at 35 yards. This will also be timed.
Rules: Firearms must be of quality and in good working order. Both rifle and pistol must be readily known as a military type firearm. Only combat type sights will be allowed. Sights must be factory grade. Adjustable sights will not be allowed. Firearms must be as close to G.I issue as possible. This means original stocks (no composite rifle stocks unless G.I issue) and grips. No aftermarket or acurized barrels are allowed. Scopes and spotters are also not allowed.
Ammunition must be of good quality. Tracers, armor piercing, or incendiary rounds are not allowed. Military, commercial and hand loaded ammo are acceptable. Safe chamber flags are required for all firearms.
Types of Firearms: Rifles: Any rifle that was produced for military issue is allowed, however keep in mind that this is a timed event. Rifles must be as close to G.I issue as possible. No scopes, or improvised sighting tools are allowed. Barrels must be of stock nature. Examples: Semi automatic: M-1 Garand, M-1 Carbine, M-1a1, AR-15, FN-FAL, H&K 91. Bolt Action: Springfield 1903, any type of Mauser, K-31 S&R, or any type of bolt gun.
Pistols: Any pistol that was or is a current front line weapon design. No highly customized 1911or other match quality pistols.
Prizes: A steak cooked to your liking will be giving to the top shooter.
There will also be burgers and soda for sale.
